Scott is originally from Brownwood, Texas. He graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He then attended South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas and received a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree.

Scott began his legal career at Fisher, Gallagher & Lewis, L.L.P., specializing in pharmaceutical and medical device litigation.  In April of 1998, he joined the law firm of Helm, Pletcher, Bowen & Saunders, L.L.P., and served as an associate only a short time before becoming a partner. While at the firm, Scott worked in mass tort litigation and was responsible for the firm’s entire Fen-Phen docket. In December, 2001, Scott became a partner with the Blizzard, McCarthy & Nabers law firm in Houston, Texas.

Scott has represented clients in mass tort cases involving Silicone breast implants, Fen-Phen, Redux, Rezulin, Herbalife, Dexatrim, Ephedra, Sulzer hip and knee implants, Medtronic heart devices, Digitek, Fentynal Patch, Accutane, Zoloft, Prozac, Reglan, Fosamax, Advair, Seroquel and Denture cream products. He has secured hundreds of millions of dollars for his clients through jury verdicts and settlements.

In December, 2002, Scott served as lead counsel on a Philadelphia case involving the prescription drugs Fen-Phen. The jury returned verdicts for two of his clients in the amount of $200 million dollars. To date, this is the largest jury verdict for a Fen-Phen induced heart valve case.

Scott currently lives in Katy, Texas.
